The diagram shows how the pieces sit on the line. Follow the steps in order.

  1. Texas: Slide a bullet weight (1/8-1/2 oz) onto the line, then tie on a 3/0 offset worm hook.
  2. Push the hook point 1/2 inch into the nose of a 7 inch worm and out the side.
  3. Slide the worm up over the eye, rotate the hook, and poke it back into the body, leaving the point just under the skin.
  4. Wacky: Use a 5 inch stick worm and a size 1 or 1/0 hook, with no weight (or a weighted hook).
  5. Push the hook through the exact middle of the worm, across its body.
  6. Cast it out, let it fall on a slack line and watch for the line to twitch.
Tip: Texas rig for weeds and wood. Wacky rig when bass are finicky or shallow.
