The state stocks it every year with 140,000 Chinook salmon and 20,000 steelhead. The runs draw anglers, and the city bans ice fishing on it in winter for safety. A series of locks and dams runs along the Oswego Canal.
Listed fish are the species named for the river on its Wikipedia page. Check the New York State DEC for river-specific regulations before you fish.
